How We Help You Build Daily Living Skills – Kathy’s Story
🗓️ Published on: 30 July 2025 | ✍️ By: A & L Unity Care | 🏷️ Category: Success Stories
Kathy lives in Melbourne with her parents. She’s 24, friendly, and loves art and music. When she first joined A & L Unity Care, she was looking for support with everyday things like cooking, going out by herself, and building confidence in her routine.
Starting Small
Her support coordinator connected her with one of our workers. In the beginning, it was all about trust — getting to know each other and setting small goals that felt comfortable.
- Making her own breakfast
- Practicing her morning routine step by step
- Going for short walks around her street
Real Progress, One Step at a Time
With ongoing support, Kathy now:
- Prepares meals with a little help
- Catches the local bus to the library and back
- Manages a small budget to buy things she enjoys
- Feels less nervous in new places
- Has joined a weekly art group at her local community centre
She’s not doing everything alone – but she’s doing so much more than before.
What Her Mum Said
“She’s changed a lot. She’s happier and more independent. We’re proud of how far she’s come.”
What We Focus On
